Appliance Service Technician Program

Appliance Service Technicians repair and service washers, dryers, dishwashers, ranges, built-in ovens, counter cook top units, microwaves, refrigerators, and freezers for appliance sales companies, wholesalers, large apartment owners and independent service companies. Many may go on to become self-employed or work in the commercial or industrial equipment industry.

This program requires the students to complete the TSSA Gas Technician 3 course. The Gas Technician 3 component of the combined program is the starting point for technicians in the gas field. The Gas Technician 3 is an essential concurrent certification for anyone wanting to work in the appliance servicing field. Graduates of this program must successfully complete the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) Gas Technician Certification Examination to be eligible to work as a licensed level 3 Gas Technician. Graduates of this program must successfully complete the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) Gas Technician Certification Examination to be eligible to work as a licensed Gas Technician. 

Students who complete our structured program will receive theory instruction together with the hands-on training methodology taught by highly trained instructors. Areas of study include; appliance service safety, troubleshooting and maintenance repair, and schematic diagrams and parts look up. Students will also have a ‘Earn While You Learn’ co-op placement with a local appliance servicing company or manufacturer for 12 weeks.
