Unico System Factory Training

A former national martial arts champion is infusing a new energy and enthusiasm into Unico’s HVAC contractor training program. Jason Church is the new National Training Manager at the Unico System headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri, and he has brought in more hands-on experiences and created a participative classroom environment. The training for this small-duct central heating and air conditioning system is offered to contractors throughout North America.

“I ask a lot of questions. I want to hear their war stories so that everyone can learn from each other,” Church said. “We keep everyone up and moving – half the time it’s classroom learning, and half the time the guys are taking apart equipment or installing it.”

Church has deep experience in the HVAC field. Prior to joining Unico, he was a trainer at Nordyne (now Nortek), a heating and cooling manufacturer. He was also an HVAC instructor at a technical college and he operated his own contracting business for 12 years. Early in his career he was a technician for a contractor for 10 years.

Using an immersive, hands-on approach, Church offers two-and-a-half-day training sessions at Unico every times every month. Unico covers the cost of three nights at a hotel as well as breakfast and lunch.
